Wildlife Rescue Team Takes in Three Hedgehogs in a Bad State

Nature Trust’s Wildlife Rescue Team has taken in three hedgehogs that were found in quite a bad state.

Sharing the photos to its Facebook page, the Rescue Team warned social media users of the graphic images and said it did not only receive sweet hoglets.

“Most of our rescues are injured animals, where it’s sometimes touch and go whether they will recover and make it through,” the Wildlife Rescue Team said, as it announced that currently it had two hedgehogs with facial injuries that were quite infected when they were found while a third hedgehog had a very bad skin infection.

“Will they respond to treatment and pull through? We can never say….it depends on how long their injuries were there before they were found, but it also depends on the animals’ will.
We can only promise that we’ll do whatever we can,” the team wrote.

The public was also reminded that the animals rescued by the Wildlife Rescue Team are protected species that cannot be kept as pets.

Its volunteers are covered by the necessary handling permit as well as training and equipment required to rescue local fauna.

Any sightings of wild animals that are either injured or in danger should be reported to the team by calling on 99999505.

The Wildlife Rescue Team thanked the public, its vets as well as its rescue and rehabilitation volunteers.

It also reminded the public that donations can be made either by bank transfer or Revolut to its IBAN number: MT18 VALL 2201 3000 0000 4002 353 8289 , Swift code VALLMTMT.
