Romania’s support for the Republic of Moldova remains unchanged. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu after a trilateral meeting held in Bucharest. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova specified that Romania supports us with specific projects that benefit all citizens of the country, IPN reports.
At a meeting with the speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament, Marcel Colacu, the Moldovan minister highly appreciated the inter-parliamentary cooperation between our states. Minister Nicu Popescu welcomed the start of joint control at the Leuseni-Albiza checkpoint. The topic of the Balti-Suceava overhead power transmission line, which will increase the capacity of electricity on the border of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, was also touched upon. All these projects contribute to the modernization of the Republic of Moldova.
Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu discussed with Luminica Odobescu, Advisor to President Klaus Iohannis for European Affairs, Romania’s support for the implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission. “The Republic of Moldova is not only a recipient of foreign aid, but also actively contributes to European and international peace and stability,” said during a meeting with NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana, reaffirming support for the alliance to strengthen the defense capabilities of the Republic of Moldova through various partnerships and dialogues that we have with NATO,” Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu said.
At the conference on security in the Black Sea, organized under the auspices of the International Crimean Platform, Nicu Popescu confirmed that the Republic of Moldova is a European country that supports democracy, freedom and respect for human rights. “I believe that thanks to these values and a job well done, our country will become a full member of the European Union,” the minister said.
“We also discussed the organization of the summit of the European Political Community, which will take place on June 1 in the Republic of Moldova. Our friends will be able to make sure that our commitment to the European future is solid,” said the head of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Moldova.
On April 12-13, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, together with the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosaty, took part in the trilateral meeting of the Foreign and Defense Ministers of Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
